The Master of Diplomatic Studies is designed for students who have completed a Bachelor's degree with honours, or a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in one of the following areas and who wish to study the theory and practice of diplomacy at the Masters level:-
- International Relations
- Strategic Affairs
- Middle Eastern & Central Asian Studies
- Asia-Pacific Studies
- Law/International Law
- Public Policy
- Diplomacy
- Business
- Another discipline in a subject area relevant to diplomacy
The Master of Diplomatic Studies requires the successful completion of 48 units of study and includes the following courses:
- DIPL8001 - Transnational Diplomacy (12 units);
- DIPL8002 - Contemporary Challenges in Diplomacy: Politics, Economics, Law & Strategy (12 units);
- DIPL8003 - Case Studies in Diplomacy (6 units);
- DIPL8004 - Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (6 units); and
- DIPL8006 - Diplomacy, Politics and the United Nations (12 units)
The Master of Diplomatic Studies is also enriched by a variety of electives from the Department of International Relations, Graduate Studies in International Affairs and the National Security College. Please seek guidence from APCD in choosing appropriate electives.
