'Worlds Apart? Exploring the Interface Between Governance & Diplomacy'

University House, The Australian National University

Canberra , Australia

Saturday-Sunday, 4-5 March 2006

This conference is one of three being held as part of a project entitled 'Worlds Apart? Exploring the Interface Between Governance and Diplomacy'. The Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy has partnered with the Centre of International Governance Innovation and the International Forum on Diplomatic Training to organise these three conferences which will examine various aspects of contemporary diplomacy. The goal of the project is to explore how both the structures and processes of diplomacy are being redefined as they respond to new challenges. This will be achieved in part by establishing dialogues between both academics with differing perspectives on the processes of contemporary world politics and also between the academic community and policy practitioners-whether professional diplomats or representatives of civil society or business. It is our intention that the papers written for the conferences will be edited into a number of volumes which will offer a detailed and systematic exploration of these themes by distinguished experts. Attendance at these conferences is on an invitation only basis.
