In September 2005, Professor William Maley (Director, APCD) travelled to Afghanistan to observe Afghanistan's Parliamentary and Provincial Council elections as a Special Guest of the UN-supported Joint Electoral Management Body. 2005 Master of Diplomacy students recently met with Ambassador Wiryono Sastrohandoyo of the Centre for Strategic and Interantional Studies, Jakarta, at the Lowy Institute for International Policy to hear him speak about 'Negotiations with GAM (Free Aceh Movement)'.
